From Strangers to Family: A Safari Photographers Journey with Two Sister Travel at Rockfig Lodge

There is something undeniably transformative about exploring the wilderness of Southern Africa, and for the tour group led by Tara MacCoy from Two Sister Travel, it was more than just a journey—it was the creation of a family. Over the course of two weeks, this group of travelers from the USA, initially strangers, ventured through the wilds of Southern Africa. They witnessed the raw beauty of the land, the untamed wildlife, and, perhaps most importantly, discovered each other.

For the final three days of their tour, they found themselves at the breathtaking Rockfig Lodge, a fitting end to an unforgettable adventure. It was here that I joined them, camera in hand, to capture the magic of their last moments together. What I witnessed was not just a group of travelers but a close-knit family, bound by shared experiences and the unspoken understanding that only the wilderness can impart.

Tara, with her warmth and expert guidance, had woven together these individuals into something far greater than a tour group. There were stories around the campfire, laughter echoing into the night, and quiet moments of reflection as we watched the sun dip below the horizon. The camaraderie was palpable, the bonds deepened with each passing day.

My goal as their personal safari photographer was to capture not just the wildlife, but the emotion—the sense of connection between these people and the land, as well as with each other. These weren’t just snapshots of a vacation; they were the visual narrative of a journey that changed hearts and minds.

And as they returned to their lives back in the States, they carried with them the memories, not just of the wild beauty they had witnessed, but of the deep friendships that were born here, under the wide African sky.

Tara and Two Sister Travel had given them more than a tour—they had given them a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they would cherish forever.

Tara, thank you for trusting me to capture these unforgettable memories!

Lots of love
